"This is my
first time attending the International Short Film Festival. This year I’m so
honored to come to Clermont-Ferrand (France) with an attitude of observation
and learning. What impressed me most is that the entire city is actively
promoting the film festival, and festival promotional materials have been
displayed everywhere: at shops, bookstores, and supermarkets. I’m so impressed
by how French local people love short film! You have to queue more than 40
minutes before the screening, otherwise you will not be able to have your seat.

I’m so
honored to be a part of the NAE program. Thanks to this trip, I can understand
the operation of Clermont short film festival in all aspects. The selection of
film festivals is very international, and in Hong Kong there are few
opportunities to see such diverse works. Exhibitors of short film market also
come from more than 30 countries. They organize professional market screening,
and the directors from other countries can shared their experience with the
audience after the screening.

Hong Kong
professional screening has allowed me to communicate with outstanding directors
and animators from film industry and local audience. As a social welfare
worker, my next plan is to make documentaries about older people. I’ve also
learned new shooting skills through documentaries screening during the
festival, and I hope to apply them to my future documentary shooting. I am so
grateful for this opportunity provided from HK government. CreateHK has
sponsored NAE projects over the years, so that talented Hong Kong directors can
go overseas and promote Hong Kong short films and culture. At the same time,
the Hong Kong delegation has a chance to learn from the most renowned short
film festival."
