Mr. Owen Chan Ka Chun has had extraordinary achievements as the pioneer of 3D computer animation education in secondary education. He developed and established the first ever 3D animation course in STFA Yung Yau College in 2008, which was endorsed by the Education Bureau as part of the curriculum in junior forms. He has been actively promoting the development of animation among youth. Under his guidance, students have successfully won numerous awards in various international animation festivals, winning for the school the reputation as a ‘Monastery of Animation’.

Joining Seoul International Cartoon and
Animation Festival (SICAF) is a way to enrich my animation knowledge. In this festival,
most of the director is good at drawing, most of their work is in a 2D style,
like Manga, illustration style. They can draw anything they imagined while our
work is in a 3D style.. [More]"
Joining Seoul International Cartoon and
Animation Festival (SICAF) is a way to enrich my animation knowledge. In this festival,
most of the director is good at drawing, most of their work is in a 2D style,
like Manga, illustration style. They can draw anything they imagined while our
work is in a 3D style. So the art form is totally different. My students can
learn different art form and the making of through this festival.
Sharing the knowledge of what we know also
widen my knowledge, we can share the use of different software through discuss
the way of making animation, lighting, editing. It seems that we are making different
things, but we recognized the problems we are facing are the same, like the
difficulties of making animation.
I
meet lots of friends through this festival. It is a meaningful experience and
it makes me unforgettable. I hope that I can join the festival again."
