Synopsis Music is the common language that draws people together. Johann Bach’s Goldberg Variations brings the two lonely and unrelated people in the film - an inconspicuous mid-aged man Joe and a once popular actress Shu closer. A subtle and occasional encounter takes place in the remote country side where Joe is the night shift storekeeper and Shu goes to the area for shooting. When Joe plays this particular work of Bach, Shu is touched and shares with him her miserable life experiences. He feels that there is a bonding between them until he attempts to explore more into this illusive “relationship”.

Remarks shared after Festival

“By participating in the 68th Festival de Cannes, I get to
know directors, producers and film commentators from different parts of the
world. A short film producer from Chile likes my short film, hence recommended
me to attend the upcoming Columbia Gorge International Film Festival. On the
other side, I received a screening invitation from the 12th Jecheon
International Music & Film Festival in South Korea after I came back to
Hong Kong, and I went there to participate in the film festival in the past

culture exchanges. A lot of cooperation possibilities appear in film festivals.
My work will also also be screened in ifva Carnival. A token of thanks has to
be given to NAE for supporting and promoting local film works. I hope NAE can
continue to support Hong Kong filmmakers in the coming future.”
