“Thanks to NAE project,
I had the chance to represent Hong Kong animators to show my work « I’m ». I really enjoyed the screening held.
The audience was awesome. They were curious about my inspiration. Actually, this
animation is sort of a self-expression. I made this animation just before
my graduation. At that time, I was wondering if I should chasing money and
wealth life like others or if I should follow my heart to establish my own
value. It’s a very short but powerful animation which leads the audience to a
universal question: how to find your true self? I’m really glad to hear that
some of the audience began to ask this question after the screening.

As a 3D animator, I’m very interested in new technology. During the
festival, I had chance to participate 10 different workshops which bring
together film schools, design studios and schools specialising in sound and
moving image industry. During the workshop, I explored the innovative 3D technology,
and met 2D and 3D animators, virtual reality specialists, production designers,
etc. Especially I had also met Benoit, the founder of the famous Courant 3D
Film Festival. He invited me to submit my works to his festival which gave me a
new opportunity to show my work.

Besides, the theme of the Festival was focused
on astronomy this year. I’m a real fan of this kind of movies. Some of the
ideas are original and innovative which inspired me a lot for my own ICG movie in the near future.

Though I didn’t have enough time to explore all aspects of the festival,
I’ve still learnt a lot during the whole trip and it’s definitely worth to come
back! ”
