To celebrate the fourth edition of the HONG KONG SHORT FILM: NEW ACTION EXPRESS (NAE), and to enhance media and the trade’s understanding of the NAE, the “NEW ACTION EXPRESS Short Film Highlights” press conference cum screening was successfully concluded on 25th November, 2015 at agnes b. CINEMA, Hong Kong Arts Centre. A number of Hong Kong’s new generation filmmakers started their careers by making short films, which earned them much acclaim locally and even abroad. The HONG KONG SHORT FILM: NEW ACTION EXPRESS (NAE), which is a scheme launched by the Hong Kong Arts Centre and sponsored by Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, supports these young filmmakers to attend international film festivals and competitions, with the aim to promote excellent Hong Kong short films and animation locally and abroad.

The NAE has always been dedicated to promoting Hong Kong short films locally and abroad and broadening local filmmaking talents’ scope and experience by offering financial support to local talents for participating in overseas film festivals and competitions. To date, the NAE has provided support to over 100 filmmakers. It has also started entering the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Short Film Market, the largest of its kind in Europe, since 2015. It was planned for the NAE to return to Clermont-Ferrand in 2016 by setting up a booth at the Short Film Market, and arranging industry screenings at the Short Film Festival, in the hope of promoting more meritorious Hong Kong shorts.

Online application for NAE is now closed. Details of the next round of application will be announced in due course.
