JCCAC Summer Films: HONG KONG SHORT FILM: NEW ACTION EXPRESS Highlights



This summer, Jockey Club Black Box Theatre, Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) will bring you a fascinating array of independent films, not only from local creative powers, but also up-and-coming film directors and young talents around the world.

A series of documentary shorts and animations selected from “HONG KONG SHORT FILM: NEW ACTION EXPRESS” will be presented. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the movie! To encourage creative interaction, post-screening talks and meet the director sessions will be arranged on all screenings.

Li Jan, a girl from Northern China, travels to Hong Kong with a 90-day tourist visa to meet with a groom, Tat, to be brought into the world of underground prostitution. On this first night, she is guided through different back alleys into different red light motels while trying to make a single phone call. As she delves deeper into the world the phone call seems beneath her grasp.
Fading Flame the Disappearance of Funeral Industry in Wanchai

The Life and Times of Ho Chung Village collects old photos of many families from Ho Chung Village. The pictures from the past travel through time, allowing the viewer to experience the flow of memories as time moves from right to left, finally settling before their eyes. It is a journey of time, of change, and of memories.
Disappearing in Central

In the 70s and 80s, the printing industry was extremely active in Hong Kong, especially in Central and Sheung Wan districts. Not only have the old skills and color of Hong Kong been disappearing, but also the human warmth associated with the industry.
