Remarks shared after Festival visit

"I am familiar with this festival since I had studied the craft of stop-motion in Bristol. In a sense the trip seems more personal to me, I feel a bit like going home. This year the festival screened over 600 films in the cinemas and over 200 films at the riversides. It is like a reunion to some of the animation friends as well as an encounter to some brilliant directors and animators in the industry, like Peter Lord, Michael Dudo DeWit and Arril Johnson. Meeting people and seeing many films in an event is sometimes physically tiring, but in returns, it inspires me, giving me energy to keep on going. After this festival, I feel like I am the beginner in animation. There are so many things or ways I can try in the process of animation-making."

"This year, the festival team aimed to attract all culture-and-arts fans to join SICAF and enjoy different animation genre. They intended to show not only the visual and sensual pleasure of animation, but also the social and cultural perspectives that are also as important to pay attention to. However, as there was no sharing or Q & A session after screenings, some other filmmakers and I arranged our own meet-up in the pub. It was very nice to meet up with over 20 animators from around the world including Slovakia, Russia, Germany, Arab Emirates, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Japan and more. This was one of the best parts during the festival and was definitely an unique and great experience. We still keep in touch after the festival and may work together in the future."
