Remarks shared after Festival visit

“A short film festival is a place where the collision of ideas between different culture is made possible within a very compact time frame. The sheer intensity of such 'cultural shock' with the opportunity to view over a hundred short films produced in countries all over the world on different topics and formats could stimulate and refresh the minds of any passionate filmmaker. It is all the more rewarding to meet other directors behind the showcased films to exchange ideas. I was especially impressed by the strong emphasis on the experimental genre by the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, which includes experimental fiction, documentary, and animation films that gave me new thoughts about the possibilities in documentary film-making. Other categories according to subject matter, such as Father and Daughter (2000), directed by Dudok de Wit, also gave fresh ideas on to the numerous ways that one can go about making films on a single topic. It has been a highly inspiring and fulfilling experience; surely it provides good nourishment that a creative mind requires for on-going art making.”
