Synopsis Chan Siu-yau’s life is forced to a halt after being charged, somewhat belatedly, with unlawful assembly and assaulting a police officer during a demonstration in support of striking dock workers over a year ago. In the eyes of fellow activists, she’s no radical, just a concerned citizen singled out for punishment amid an escalating tug-of-war between law enforcement authorities and rights advocates.

Remarks shared after Festival visit

“Vision expanded, thinking extended. This is what I am rewarded after attending film festivals. Different to HK’s, overseas films can make use of merely simple stories to telling local cultures or problems. More, they are right on the target. Apart from awesome story lines, their shorts reflect artists’ viewpoint on local critical problems.
I am glad for the chance to watch films from all corners of the world. Despite diverse background, film language is the same. This is Film, and this is what filmmakers need to think and learn.”

— Shared by Wan Kin-fai, director of Guilty after attending 18th Thai Short Film and Video Festival in Thailand, under the sponsorship of NAE.

“It was an honour to participate in one of the biggest short film festivals in Europe - the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and enjoy various short film screening programmes throughout the festival. A short film market was set up for distributors, producers, directors and investor to further their network and explore all possible collaboration opportunities. Through this visit, I met Ouat Media Inc. from Canada and had the opportunity to distribute my film. I would like to express my gratitude to my film crew, as long as the contribution and support received from NAE, which envisions filmmakers of Hong Kong shorts with a broader view.”
